Since I am in Mexico running a meter for my computer access I do not have the bandwidth to dispute the perception that the system is biased against men, but let me say that I feel very strongly that just the opposite is the case, and I can back it up with stories that would make you guys assume the fetal position and suck your thumbs.

However, let me stick to what may help.

I have researched child support laws in several states and in each of them representing yourself is *discouraged* but allowed. Allowed, I say. I successfully got my child support back through the court system in Maryland, whereupon it quintupled to what it should have been all along.
I only know the exact details of the formula in MD but it goes like this:

Assume you make $50k and wife makes $25K

add both incomes together. Amount that should be spent on child(ren) is found on table provided.

since wife makes 1/3 of income her portion of this is 1/3
yours is 2/3

if you have 50/50 custody this is not my case, I have full custody.
But there is a second worksheet where the child support is pro-rated over percent
of time with each parent. If there were a 50/50 split in time and incomes were exactly equal I believe that the result would be that nobody owed anybody, but things are not usually like this.

Hope that helps, really.
