Mondeo will do you fine, it's a medium sized saloon/sedan. A Corsa is a small hatch back, not very comfortable if either of you are tall.
I do think your'e trying to get too much done though. Maybe you could have a base city each day, example...

While driving upto Leeds will only take you 2.5 to 3 hours if youre lucky with traffic, if you visit the Royal Armouries and have a few pints theres your day gone, and you won't have even seen York, which is a must If your'e into History.
Though you could think about staying in Leeds overnight, it's not quite a tourist oriented as York, so it should be cheaper, and then you could get the train to York, It's only 35 minutes each way. That way you can drink all day and have the night out in Leeds before driving elsewhere the day after, Leeds is pretty mad in the evening, well worth a try.
