Hello
I just bought a Edelbrock QuadraJet carb for my ''75 Chevy. It is very a nice carb.  Hotrodders tend to want to look at the factory (style) carbs as something that is in the way of making big horsepower, but the Q-jets are the most drive-able carbs around.  By this I mean, that they tend to have the attributes that GM thought were important, quick starting, smooth idle, good responsiveness, fuel economy, and just all around nice to drive characteristics.  Hotrodders (of which I am one) often tend to worry about horsepower.  Quite often, the above attributes that make a car enjoyable to drive, are not even on the hotrodders list of priorities.  So to make a short story long: my wife's cars all get Quadra-Jets. I recommend a new Edelbrock Quadra-Jet and a inline fuel filter, because the fuel filter in a Quadra-Jet is spring loaded.  When the filter plugs up, the fuel pressure will push the filter out of the way.  That is great for getting you home, but it tends to ruin the carb by plugging it with dirt.  When you spend five hundred dollars for a carburetor, that is not a good compromise.  Put in a Fram G2 filter (couple of bucks) and change it every tune up.

Enjoy,
Rob and Lorry (happily married 'cause I don't make her drive a Holley)

Subject: [Chevelle-List] carb / 66

Hi all,

We are converting from a 2 barrel to a 4 barrel carb on my sons 66 Malibu.  327 engine, automatic transmission.  (We will be changing the ignition system later).

Any recommendations?

Are the Edelbrock carbs any good?
