I would not use a 2004R on a motor that is making any kind of significant horsepower.   I know a lot of guys on Team Chevelle are using them, but I was talking to the guy that built the TH400 in my 70 and he says they are junk and not worth building.  A 700R4 is a much better choice. 
However, to put a 2004R in a Chevelle is quite simple, the TH350 driveshaft is the same length, same as the 4 speed driveshaft, so no driveshaft work is required.  The only other thing to do is put in the TV cable and make sure it is hooked up right.  If it is not, you will burn the tranny up in about 5 miles.
