You don't really need to purchase another steering column. The column shift can be modified wiht a little effort and repaint.
Remove the entire shifter column Remove the column shifter bar. Disassemble most of the steering column. Cut out the hump where the shifter bar attaches Patch it with your favorite body patch material (bondo, fiberglass, etc). Sand, smooth, repaint the whole steering column. Re-install. A floor shift column usually runs $100-$150. This might save you some $$$. I've not done it personally, but have heard of others doing it.
