When you say "worry about", it makes one wonder since you haven't had them operational anyway. Me neither in the 17 years I've owned my 67 <G> and now that I've converted to a 700R4, I want the damn things to work - just because. LOL! I honestly don't know where your backup light switch is but a wiring diagram would show you. Depending on the aftermarket shifter you have, you should be able to get (or rig) a micro switch to the shifter to operate you backup lights. That's what I'm going to do with my B&M Quicksilver when/if I get around to it.
