Hi Amanda,
my personal belief is that the influx of seizures is diretly related to the
increase in vaccinations (boosters to be specific) and over medication (flea
and
tick meds like frontline) and garbage from the pet food companies outsourced
from other countries and early spay and neuter. These seem to be the
contributing factors...other than injury...that have influenced the increase in
seizures. Also poor breeding...as it can be hereditary. Commonly however if it
is hereditary, the seizures show by age 2. A dog that has seizures begin after
age 2 most always have one of the other contributing factors as the culprit. My
opinions!

I’m noticing that it seems like chis and other small dogs are prone to
seizures.
Does anyone know why?  I know that chis have a soft spot in their skull at the
front might this be part of it?  I’m no doctor or vet but just curious to know
why they are more prone to seizures.

My mother didn't remember the name. It was some type of phenobarbital.  My
mother swears Tia got the seizures from the flea medicine she was using. It was
the type you put on their backs. I hope this helps.
