Comment #25 on issue 3126 by kuchhal: Open link in live messenger will
launch chrome.exe but chrome window cannot show
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=3126

Hmm.. still no luck in understanding the problem. The registry entries are
certainyl
not right but I am not sure why it is failing only for you. Can you please
try some
additional steps?
- If you comfortable editing registry, can you find this key in the
registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\http\shell\open\command]
@="C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -nohome
and edit its value to be
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\http\shell\open\command]
@="C:\Users\ABC\AppData\Local\Chromium\Application\chrome.exe" -- "%1"
Make sure you change back ABC in the above path to the right value. Now try
clicking
a http link in live messenger. if you are not comfortable editing registry,
ignore
this step.

- Download an even newer build of Chromium from here -
http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/snapshots/chromium-rel-xp/9683/mini_installer.exe
- which has the fix I made today for other default browser related
problems. Try this
build on XP.

- If still doesn't work please again get the three files as described in
earlier post
and
post them here. Make sure you get these files from your XP machine.
