Yeah – for W/L racing does it really matter if the boat is 10 feet long or 100?
Being the RC boat for Optis and 420s I was thinking these kids might grow up 
and race ever-bigger boats around this EXACT SAME COURSE.
Maybe C&C needs to recreate the old SR22.

I hope the folks who commented on my earlier rant, particularly Will Harris, 
are not feeling that I don't like the current designs. I just like the older 
ones better - we have a few local Hinckley Bermuda 40's around here and I think 
they are beautiful. Would I like to have one - NO - all that lovely brightwork 
to maintain, less room inside than a current 35 footer, etc. Plus 25000 pounds 
and a 40 footer that rates the same as my 30-1.

I feel that a boat that draws 7 or 8 feet only fits in a few areas of the 
Chesapeake, such as Annapolis. But on the Eastern Shore you would be confined 
to the channels which are not very wide - thus you better have a good motor.

Don't get me wrong - I like fast boats - have been racing on J-80's for three 
years and they are a blast! Would I do anything but race them from a pier - NO. 
So, a 30 foot version with over 7 feet of draft would be a bigger blast, but 
most of the folks I know are not in a financial position to have a quarter 
million toy.

We do have a 115 in the fleet, and it looks good and performs well - sometimes 
we beat it boat for boat (on the J-80) and sometimes we have to wait until the 
handicaps are calculated - they give us about half a minute per mile - and once 
it a while they get us.

And for the other commenter, in 1980 I was towing my Porsche RSR look-alike 
IMSA/TransAM 911 around either behind a 1970 Chrysler 440 Wagon (as big as my 
boat!) or a Dodge Van. The street 911 was at home..... nowadays similar folks 
are using monster pickups with fifth wheel rigs or renting semis.... everything 
changes.

I think that is very true. Coquina is 40 years old and we have owned her for 36 
of those 40 years. Racing and cruising have diverged so much that the market 
for a 2014 C&C 35 MK I basically does not exist.

Reality check?  We are probably not the best council for the new C&C company.  
Having sailed for 40 years and owned my present boat for 11 years.  If I ever 
hit the lottery, I still wouldn't buy a new boat.  For the same money, I can 
get twice the boat fully equipped and fitted out w sails and equipment.  Just 
sayin'.

Thanks, I get it...........but they don't have to sell thousands of
boats..(Average price will be in the $250K+ range, in my opinion.  They do
have to build a slick fast competitive boat that any potential J105 or  J109
buyer would change his mind for..........

In my mind, this is a price to market issue........hell, if I were to win
the lottery, the first call I'd make is to the new C&C guys.......and we'd
be off and running; new logo and all.

Actually... Yes (although they are no longer making sailboats).  In fact I
sold a 386 to return to C&C, albeit of the Tartan vintage.  I don't regret
the decision for a minute.  I believe there are several "list lurkers" that
might surprise you.

I very much liked the exterior of the redline 41 and were it not for my 121
which I am in love with I would likely be giving them a call.  The interior
needs to be reworked but I believe he mentioned other designs.  I wish them
well. Like many on this list I just think they are fighting an uphill battle
with the 30.  They may well prove me the idiot I am and end up selling
thousands of boats.  I hope they do.

If I had a choice, I would prefer to see a return to what Tartan did
originally with the 110/121 - a really good performance cruiser.  Of course,
if I was in the majority Tartan never would have sold the band.  As I
recall, the comment in 1999 was that the boat needed a C&C logo on the
shower door to prove it was a C&C.  Nope, not a lot of love from the Niagara
crowd.

So yes, we probably all should be a bit more open minded.  In a few years,
we may well find a few generation next C&C's on this list.
