On my 34, there is a rubber stop on top of the quadrant, on centerline.  It has
hard stops on a laminated rib to either side on the bottom of the cockpit.
There is no adjusting, it's an Edson system.
I am at about 300 degrees of movement on the wheel from center to hard over.

I think Peregrine is 1 or 1 1/2 turns. The way our boats were designed, they
don't need a ton of the mechanical advantage that increases the number of turns
lock to lock to steer them--they are sweetly well-balanced and always fun to
steer.
On some boats, steering is like having an argument you're determined to win,
but it takes a lot out of you. With our boats, steering is more like having a
conversation with a beautiful woman before you make love.

Hi David,

Since you're curious, my wheel is 3 turns lock-to-lock, which makes itone and a
half turns from mid to hard-over.

It is my routine to do a lock-to-lock check and return to centre beforeleaving
the dock. Which could be a hold-over form the old days, mycruising boats had
hydraulic steering gear.

I've been messing with mysteering and the placement of the wheel stop on the
quadrant.  Myquestion is, how many turns (or partial turns) of the wheel past
midshipsdoes your steering system allow?

Thanks,

David
