That is what I am thinking. I am about to buy an alternator, and one with a serpentine pulley, so I only would need the pulley on the crank, and water pump. I realise Balmar, and I guess ElectroMAXX have put some time into creating these kits for each engine, but they still seem a little pricy. When you start looking at car pulleys, they are dirt cheap in comparison. Maybe I can just modify a car pulley.
And to Ken’s point, I guess I don’t really need the serpentine, but I do want it. V belts wear down quickly, makes a mess, are not as efficient, need replacing two or four times sooner and need more attention than the serpentine. I guess if you are born anal like me, your life is that much harder. The price I've seen just seems astronomical for the minimal benefits. Counterpoints?
