@SEZ9 — your Issues 1 and 6 on #11757 look like they may apply here too. The stale branch of finishOwnedResources() calling recycleClassLoader() while the old generation's async and timer-flush futures are still running came from my commit originally, and #11727 carries the same call. Worth me addressing it on this PR, or better handled once in #11757 given how much the two overlap?
