Almost all of the early ones do. De-solder it. There is no way to turn it
off. You should be able to buy a standard battery mount that will fit in the
space like all the newer SEs. Radio Shack may have something that will work.
These batteries will last for years (though yours is most likely dead), so
if you want to just get on with it, de-solder it and solder a new one in
it's place. You don't really need it either unless you want to maintain your
general settings and clock from startup to startup. But in a Mac this old, I
find it somewhat pointless. Alcohol won't cause a problem either with such
low voltages. A point was made earlier to use an almost 100% solution
compared to drugstore which is mostly water, but others here will say just
stick it in the dishwasher. Though corrosion should be removed with a brush.
