It appears that the Coupe, including my 1965 Alon, does not have to meet
the
fireproofing/fire resistent standard. Notwithstanding that, I have
decided
to use a carpet and (a little bit of) vinyl that does meet FAR
regulations.
The upholstry that I choose meets the California automobile flameability
test. I believe this product will easily withstand the FAA's "fire
resistent test". I'm pretty sure the "new" upholstry material and vinyl
that has been in the plane for the past 20+ years was not fire resistent
by
any standards. I think the carpet, or at least some of it, was original.
The naugahide boots on the rudder peddles was marked "1964".

Thanks to all of you that responded.
