I am sorry that your list was so confused here is the original post from
Maynard Smith and my reply to him. I hope this clears this up.
Cal. for some time has tried one way or another to take guns from us by
one method or another this is just their latest attempt.
I am not sure at this time or not if this bill passed will check it out
tomorrow.

Good evening Folks:
This has nothing to do with Ercoupes. However, I feel it is quite
important.
If you feel as I do that the following has no place in our society
then please take the time to voice your opposition to this bad piece of
legislation.
Maynard Smith.
=======================================================================
Ladies & Gentleman:
As early as 8/7/2000 the Calif. legislature could vote on AB 273, by
Assemblyman Jack Scott (D-Pasadena), that would require all handgun
buyers be licensed by the Calif. Dept. of Justice. In fact AB 273 would
require that all firearm buyers do the following before being able to
purchase any gun.
1. Pass a written test on firearms laws.
2. Be fingerprinted.
3. Pass a shooting proficiency test.
4. Register all handguns owned.
This invasive, costly and time consuming mandate would result in mass
discrimination against normal law abiding people. Furthermore, if an
individual is under the age of 21, AB 273 mandates that they could only
use a handgun under the direct supervision of a licensed adult.
If all that weren't enough AB 273 would require that once you are
registered you would be required to notify law enforcement whenever you
move - just like registered sex offenders.
If you want to avoid the next worse thing to total confiscation in
California, it is imperative that you contact Assemblyman Jack Scott at
(919) 319-2044 to voice your opposition to AB 273. Look in the front of
your phone books for the Calif. legislators in you districts and tell
them you oppose AB 273. Also remind them you will be watching to see how
they vote.
Time is short so pass this on to all your family and friends so that
they call before August 7th.

My Reply:
Maynard, you have said it very well. My family has grown up with guns
and I own several.
I have no intentions of registering them in Cal. nor do I have any
intentions of giving them up. I guess I might become a criminal as I
will not give them up.
One out of about 7 is registered only reason being it was my fathers
service revolver and had to be. It is in his name and it will remain
that way.
We will sell out and leave this dam State before we comply with this.
The crime in my area is gross, I need my guns here in the country to
defend myself as the so called police department can not do so. We had a
life taken about 2 miles over from us. The gun might of made the
difference. A home in the country without the owner owning a gun has
became suicidal in the Good State of Cal.
The so call fathers of this town has now decided to put gate keys out to
each of the policemen to be able to go on the airport to protect the
plane hangers from being broke into. I do not want to see the police
officers in this city with gate cards as they can not protect the people
out where the planes are, let alone protect a plane, the only thing that
will happen is the cards will be missing and so will planes and
equipment off of them while that policemen is having a donut or a
coffee break, more than likely at the restaurant at the airport that he
is suppose to be protecting.
