Hi Georgia, Good question..... It does get hot in the summer - or in temperate zones....so we put in a sun shade at the very top of the curvature. With windows open---slid down --- the sunshade covers about 15 degrees to each side of the top of the canopy. Available in dark green ar Smoke Grey, it does a good job. Some have even made a solid sunshade, but that , of course restricts vision to the area above you....
