I was in Italy at the time, and saw the film there. It's been a long time,
but to the best of my recollection, she did not appear to be trying to get
away. I remember seeing her pick up the skull fragment. She did not appear
to be concerned about anything else. When they rushed the president into the
hospital, they left her outside. She whirled around facing the camera in her
bloodstained suit, looking totally lost. Then she turned around and ran into
the hospital, pushing open the doors herself. It wasn't just Connally's wife
who testified as to the "they're going to kill us all." During the interviews
of everyone they could find, someone (I think it was the driver when asked
what did the governor say when he got shot, said that Connally had spoken
those words. It was a man's voice that I heard say it. At the time I turned
to my husband and said, "Connally was in on it. He knew something was going
to happen, and he was afraid he hadn't been included in quite all the plan."
