 Interesting.  In my case, the hardware was identical.  However, I have not done much in terms of tweaking 2003, and still have DEP on.  The previous 2000 was pretty well optimized for performance.  So I probably shouldn't compare until I optimize 2003. I have of course tweaked 2003 by shutting off unnecessary services and even turning off DEP.  I believe that DEP can make a difference in performance.  I can't comment on comparable utilization of apps outside of mail servers since everything else tends to only scratch the surface of my CPU's on the other boxes.  Clearly things are different enough that one might trigger certain behaviors one one instead of the other. If so do you possibly have terminal services installed in application mode? Highly doubtful - but I figured I would ask. For those that may have a TS server I noticed a string of forum posts that indicates one of the MS Patches from August "KB917422 MS06-051 no longer allows you to read or write INI files from anywhere other than the Windows folder" I only bring this up because I know Imail uses an ini file for web messenging and its possible some may have TS in app mode - you never know. I also installed 4 more Windows updates yesterday and that's about when the problem started. I removed those patches today and did a reboot of my server. I'm still experiencing the same issue with the webmail. It has been reported to be an issue with KB917953 from June. Most likely something in this weeks patches in combination with KB917953 triggered this.
