Hi all,
Just a few ideas from me...
I think all of these features look like a great idea. Don't underrate
all the security/privacy features on this list. Cyanogen Mod is hugely
popular because of the integration (whether through 3rd party apps or
not) of features such as VPN, PGP, Tor, Full Disk Encryption, Owncloud
etc. Remember that the people who are using FFOS are exactly the sort of
people who appreciate this sort of stuff.
Sorry, I'm a bit of an outsider here (being more of a user than a dev)
but I think it's incredibly important to sort out the OTA updates. This
is where Android completely falls down. I hope this is something FFOS
can get right. I was stranded on 1.3 on the ZTE Open C until I flashed a
community build. We've come a long way, but we need to ensure users are
never left behind on an old rickety version of FFOS. It's bad for everyone.
Add-ons will also be a massive draw for people. I can't impress enough
how much us geeks and techies love to tweak our OS's.
So for me, the main features that will keep me here are:
* Well implemented OTA updates (with the choice of channel: Stable,
Aurora etc.) so I'm always up to date with the great progress the
project is making.
* Better OwnCloud and Firefox Sync integration (Card Dav, Web Dav,
CalDav is broken for me with self signed cert).
* Full Disk Encryption, to protect my data if phone is lost or stolen.
Sorry for the ramble.
Best regards
Leo
