and without that most likely you end up with a CRLF version since
MinGW is targeted to build native windows binaries just like the MSVC
toolchain ...
Which is the sane thing to do. In the windows world, Cygwin is the one
that does everything wrong by default, making it really hard to use in
conjunction with native tools. MinGW plays much nicer there. But its
shell not handling text line endings correctly is a bug.
well, might be - but remember that its not only the shell, but a bunch
of autoconf tools which then also would need to be modified to accept
CRLF ...
