* Quickstarter for GNU/Linux
I never saw this feature in a final vanilla build. I've only seen it in
ooo-build and in a vanilla release candidate, so you may want to exclude
it from this list.
Hmm, o.k., I have to look into this, but I guess the Quickstarter isn't
the coolest feature anyway.
* Soon: PDF Import Extension
* Soon: Presenter Console
Will these be released simultaneously with OOo 3.0 beta? If not,
perhaps they should be excluded. It was not fun hyping the 3D OpenGL
extension for 2.4, and then it's still not released today. Also, it
would help to have them released beforehand---even privately---if you
want someone to write about them.
The will become available a few weeks after the start of the
OpenOffice.org beta according to the current schedule. However, I at
least like to put a "placeholder" on the feature list page, so that
people know that these features are still coming.
* Soon: Wiki Publisher
FYI. I played with this one, but it gave me numerous problems. For
example, it has problems[1] with Wikipedia, the most popular MediaWiki
wiki.

Thanks for the link!
* Connect to WebDAV servers via HTTPS
This is too technical for a general audience.
Hmm, your probably right. However, for some people it's pretty
important. Thus, maybe we need "Other Features" bucket where we just
list the feature.
* Improved Vista support
Isn't Vista support improved in many versions since 2.0.1?
That's true! Anyway, we should document that we run on Vista.
* Extension framework enhancements
- Inclusion of online help information
- Inclusion of publisher and release note information
- Check-for-update mechanism
If I remember correctly, OpenOffice.org as an application has also had
incremental improvements in regards to checking for updates in this time
frame.
I guess the extension framework improvements are also to technical and
thus should also be moved to the "Other Features" section that I
suggested above.
If yes, what features would you like to cover? Please keep in mind
that we don't have too much time, as I think it would be good to have
the information ready for the beta launch. Thus, there are just a few
days left.
Any decisions as the appropriateness of linking to sites other than on
the Sun and OpenOffice.org domains? Martin Hollmichel and I brought this
up recently, but I didn't see a decision.
I think it's o.k. to link to other pages and resources on a case by case
basis, but we definitely should make sure that the large majority of the
information and content resides on OpenOffice.org in order to make sure
that users find all the key information in one place. The links should
just provide additional background information, i.e. complementary
material.
Keeping as much as possible on OpenOffice.org also has the benefit that
native-language communities can translate the content like they did last
time.
All the best,
Erwin
