What ever the spec says, we definitely should provide a configuration parameter in web.xml where one can configure the packages to scan, else startup times of your webapp will be VERY bad. I had this in the past with shale-annotation. There I added such configuration already. We can strip the scanning/parsing out there - I'll contribute if required. Ciao, Mario
