Hey all,

I really like the idea to extend the import settings dialog. It is Kind the
same that IntelliJ does:
https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/run-for-the-first-time.html#import-product-settings
if you scroll down a bit, you can see how it looks for selecting the user
theme (LaF and editor). Test it on your own, just download an JetBrains
Application, start it for the very first time and have a look how it works.

Cheers

Chris

Thanks! Was mentioned in my first response here. There's already
been a bit of discussion on settings import because the way it
searches for previous versions is far from ideal now, considering
things like LTS -> LTS, beta -> release and custom userdirs. It was
the last version-related thing still hardcoded, and although that's
changed in 11.3, it's not ideal.

So, a dialog that allows for settings import, and if not guides people
through some common setup, including LaF seems an improvement to me,
actually speeding up users getting the IDE configured - system LaF or
cross-platform light or dark (both FlatLaF) being the obvious choices
for appearance in my opinion.

That plugin appears to both be dead and under a license that makes
that unlikely. Maybe some improvement of existing behaviour in the
IDE here though?

Best wishes,

Neil
