Hi, Being an software engineer, I would like suggest picking up Sun's build rather than another one built by one individual.
Sun's build - Built by the professional release engineering team being in charge for decades. - Capable of effectively investigating crash reports. - Based on original source code. - Capable of taking a responsibility as an organization. - StarDivision and Sun are well recognized. Maho's build - Built by one voluntary contributor working in this area for a year or so. - Less capable of looking into crash reports. - Based on original source code. - Incapable of taking a responsibility. - Who is Maho? This is beyond my area. But IMHO, if the OpenOffice.org community can not be responsible to a binary, such a binary should not be placed in the official mirror network. BTW, especially in this case, how can we offer less reliable, less support quality, less responsible one as an official one? If we leave this to N-L projects, does it meet profits of all users in the local community or just for self-satisfaction of someone? Does Maho insist picking up his build as an official build in the Japanese NL community? Maho is currently, solely a lead of the project. There have been no co-lead in the project for years. I can second this. Sun is actively working on the MacOSX port and providing binaries for the x86 Aqua platform. It's up to each native language team which build they want to have distributed. As a Sun employee I just can solicit the use of the Sun provided builds.
