The thing is that Freenet is very good at doing one-to-many
communication (such as a BBS), but, IMHO, it may not work
so well as for one-to-one or many-to-one communication, such
as e-mail.

For the record, I have stoped working on the DNS-over-Freenet
because it needs a SECURE public namespace to work. There
might be a way to do it with SSKs and CHKs only, but I haven't
found it yet. The only ones I've thought of or have been suggested
suffer from the same problems the current DNS system
does.

What is a secure public namespace?

fred is the java "reference" implementation of freenet. currently it exists
as a 0.3 and a partial 0.4 implementation

whiterose is the c++ implementation of freenet written exclusively by agl.
it works (does it still) as a 0.3 node and should have a partial
implementation of 0.4 as well.
