I think your 'hybrid' controller is already PlugPlayer together with LMS. When you connect one of your Squeezeboxes to LMS server, they are available via PlugPlayer as well - along your with other devices.
Be aware of some limitations though: as Pippin already mentioned, DLNA has a somewhat flawed concept when it comes to control points and renderers. The actual playlist is completely managed by PlugPlayer, when a song is finished it sends the next song to the device/media renderer (you can observe that on the Squeezebox - its own playlist only contains a single song) - so make sure, your iPad always has full power, otherwise your devices will go silent. Then also all features for which I bought a Squeezebox are not available in this DLNA-hybrid-mode. Synchronization, Gapless playlist, Apps, Advances Plugins. Also special features of SqueezePad or iPeng like fast browsing due to caching are not available for DLNA. Personally I'm also not very happy with PlugPlayer. It always feels soooo slow - but of course this is due to the whole DLNA spec. I also already thought about moving SqueezePad to DLNA (actually as a separate App, not hybrid for Squeezeboxes). But if you observe how much work it is for Logitech alone to create a DLNA server that only supports the Revue properly and has/had big problems with all other renderers - then I'm not really sure if I wanted to spend my free time with the can of worms that DLNA is. I mean me and pippin often enough complain about protocols, API and consistency in the Squeezebox-World - but compared to DLNA what we experienced so far was a joy. Then looking at the pricing (half the price) and the ranks of PlugPlayer (often on par with iPeng or SqueezePad) then at least me has decided, that starting to train playing piano again is the better choice :) -- bluegaspode Did you know: *'SqueezePlayer' (www.squeezeplayer.com)* will stream all your music to your Android device.
