Proxying through SBS always works, as SlimProto is then handled through the SBS, MySB.com is only serving additional content like Radio stations and Apps. The streams always come from the content providers so are not routed through MySB.com.
And when you see your iPad on MySB.com then it is because the Server registers all it's own known players on MySB.com. And yes - there are also some inconsistencies with direct connections to MySB.com when a server was in play before. But the behaviour is very inconsistent over time. Try with a new MySB.com account and you'll see that you won't be able to connect any soft-player.
