in universal access prefs, there is a checkbox for allowing access by 
assistive devices that needs to be checked to use a braille display.  Also, 
I am not certain that the update to leopard for using the new displays is 
included in updates after its release or if it needs to be run separately.

Ok guys.  my best friend is deafblind and so she can't use VoiceOver
that well.  She recently got a Syncbraille to work with her Macbook
running Leopard.  When she connects it it doesn't recognise the
display.  It says braille display dimmed.  She tried connecting other
usb devices and it works just fine with those.  She's also done all
