I have one more though on this.  If she has growl on her system, it might 
bbe interfering with the braille display getting a signal.  Also, I am not 
familiar with the display but I wonder if it is actually set up correctly 
but if apple is working with her, they've probably worked through the 
issues.

She needs to lean on gw a bit.  She should write to:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
I think that is the address.  If she hasn't already tried this, she might 
want to try setting up a different account and check to see if she can get 
the display to work in it.  This should help to track down the problem.  I'm 
sure she knows that she needs to use a usb cable and that the braille 
display needs to be set on usb.

I'm sorry I couldn't get back to you until today but I had to wait for
her answer.  She says that they installed the necessary update for the
device and that the box in universal access was checked.  GW Micro
isn't getting back to her and Apple ran out of suggestions.  I just
e-mailed her, but will call if I get a response from here, since she
can use a phone.  I asked her if I had permission to give her email
(offlist) if there's anyone here willing to work with her directly.
Alternatively, would someone here be willing to give permission to me
to pass your info onto her?  She's really freaking out about this and
any help would really be appreciated.
