Nick,

I will provide a translation of the eligibility requirements for a .FR
domain from AFNIC's naming charter. Please keep in mind that this
translation should not be considered official - we will post the full naming
charter (in French) on the RRC later today.

Here are the eligibility requirements:

1) A qualified legal entity where the registered office or the
establishment's address is in France and is identified in the databases:

- Greffes des tribunaux de commerce
- Registre national du commerce et des societes (INPI)
- Institut national des statistiques et des etudes economiques (INSEE)
- REFASSO pour les associations

2) Individuals or organizations who are holders of trademarks registered
with "Institut national de la propriete industrielle" or a registered
community or international trademark identified in the database ICIMARQUES
(INPI)

3) Individuals with an address in France (earlier in the document, they
specify that the person must justify three consecutive months at that
address)

Subject: [domains-gen] .FR rule change

" As of 20 June 2007, the .FR registry is also revising the requirements for
registrants. Any adult with a postal address in France will be eligible to
register a .FR domain name. Until now, only professionals, associations or
public bodies have been allowed to register domain names."

Can I just clarify, does that mean any person irrespective of them having a
French passport or Carte De Sejour is now able to register. The sole
requirement is that they have a French postal address on the application as
a contact? (As admin contact I presume?)

Best Regards,

Nick
