Can someone explain to me why, if you want to sell certs, a company the 
size of Tucows doesn't become a certificate authority?

I've never understood this reselling of a resold certificate approach. 
Other than maybe some degree of convenience offered to your resellers by 
rolling this into a unified API, there can't be any advantages to this 
three-level cockup of a reseller scheme.

I do not presume that you are naïve, but want you to know that we
will be making sure that we are on top of any changes, and will have our
backup-plans in place if things are to change for the worst. I'd say that 
we
are"cautiously optimisitic" at this point, but we are making sure that
our (and your) business is protected.
