I don't know about .uk or .de, but .it are a very pain...the italian
registry needs a fax (just from a month the accept a .pdf with images),
often their fax machines doesn't work, often the fax is unreadable, often
when readable they compaint about stupid things (ie, unreadable
signature...). A month ago they changed everything, and if some process are
more easy now, some other are still a pain, and are slooooooow...before (if
all went fine) it required a couple of day to register the domain, now they
are registering domains required 5/6 days before.

Tucows can improve the feeling with customers, ie listening at their
request. When a domain is transferred, the italian registry order to the old
maintainer to remove the dns zone, but in the transfer form there is no way
to write the new dns's, so the old are kept..but the old doesn't work
anymore when transferred so you have to start a change procedure, in the
change procedure you cannot write the VAT that is required by the new
procedures of italian registry. Tucows told me a couple of time to write in
the note field about new dns but never followed instructions and kept old
dns.
How to improve this ? It's easy: in all the form it would be nice to have a
field "Any questions ?" that are *really* read and processed :) so I can
write "Hey, we need a VAT field here, or I send you all data and you reply
me after a couple of day that you need the VAT" :)
