I think they've dropped J# largely because they're going after Java  
with the .NET framework as a whole. Due to the Mono project  
allowing .NET to run on Linux and Mac, Microsoft suddenly found  
themselves as the patent-holder for a cross-platform framework. So now  
C# and VB.NET can go up against Java directly, Microsoft can put J++/ 
J# to bed and not get sniped at by the odd lawsuit from Sun.
