The Extended SMART Tests on the 1000 G disc also completed without
error, so I ran the Boot rebuild utility from Parted Magic.
Unfortunately, this had no effect, so I'm going to have to pursue some
of the other suggestions. However, the disc tests took almost 6 hours,
and I've run out of time to do anything more. I'll try again tomorrow.
