And believe it or not, I've actually "restored" a customers battery 
with the old eraser trick.  We were in a harsh environment (filming 
on the Atlantic) and somehow/someway there was enough oxidation on 
the battery contact pads, that wiping them with a pencil eraser 
improved things dramatically.  Or maybe it was the threats uttered on 
the stern where the tossing temptation was greatest.

I don't think this will do anything for you -- but what do you have to lose ?
