The type III has 4/5 A cells, while the type 1 has AA cells. I'm
betting the Type I battery case can be made into a battery CASE for 100
NiMH rechargeable cells.
The only circuitry in the battery is a thermal fuse, a thermal sensor
and a switching transistor.
