A bad battery can show full or near full voltage using a multimeter if
the battery is not "loaded". Try connecting a 10 ohm resistor across the
battery while testing it with a voltmeter (multimeter). A good duo
battery should be able to keep the meter reading near 12 volts for over
an hour with a 10 ohm resistor as a load. Be sure to use at least a 20
watt resistor as it will get very warm if the battery is good. The
battery would be delivering 1.2 amps (1200 milliamps). My guess is that
your battery's voltage will drop dramatically within a few minutes or
less when loaded.
