I've been sort of lurking on this discussion but not reading EVERY single reply so hopefully this hasn't already been covered. If it has, then Denise, you can slap me. :p
Why can't a rating system for your posts be optional? That way, people who want that kind of landscape for their journal can have it and people who don't want to deal with the potential drama don't have to. I think this WAS sort of mentioned actually, back when there was talk of making a "quick poll" feature or whatever. It seems a lot of what I've been reading, though, is about making it a feature across the board vs not making it a feature across the board. If there was any talk about making it an OPTIONAL feature across the board, I missed it. I personally like the idea for SOME entries. Occasionally, I write really zany posts JUST to be silly and get some kind of reaction out of my friends. It's times like those that having a customizable "quick poll" such as "wow you're really weird" and "cool, i loved this" would be a lot of fun. (In fact...I might just start implementing that through regular polls...but having a ticky box that you could turn on for an entry that has a default setting such as "this was cool" would be nicer.) - Chasy.
