I personally like the idea. The main thing people seem to criticize about IDEA is the slow GUI. If the plugin used SWT this should speed up IDEA quite a bit (and it makes it look more professional to manager-type guys who are making the purchasing decisions.).
But of course there is the disadvantage of SWT no being very cross-platform at the moment...but this should change soon.
