Good Evening,

Autumn is proceeding.  Leaves falling allow more sun to hit the forest floor.  This brings the mushrooms out, then the birds which fluff up the leaf, needle, and fern clutter.  I noticed an oddly colored bird in a tree.  Then I recognized him; he was not in the usual location, you don't normally see Varied Thrush from below.  When the forest floor dries out between showers flocks of them work in expanding rings fluffing up the forest clutter. Robins come along in a second wave to take advantage of any exposed multi-legged creatures.  The mushrooms are uncovered too.

The sun is quite active this week.  A series of CMEs have either hit, or are still on the way.  There should be aurora tonight but cloud cover won't let me check.  There will be periods of G1 level solar storms over the next day.  Expect a moderate level of noise and a goodly amount of QSB, nothing unusual :) Comet Lemmon is near its closest approach to earth.  Binoculars will help but are not required.  The solar storms are shaking its tail.
