The US did try to turn metric many years ago, without real success. The
auto industry has gone to many metric sized bolts and nuts, but I still
need both metric and US sized wrenches - it makes my toolbox much heavier!
As far as time goes, My preference would be to stay on Daylight Saving
Time, but many will not agree depending on which side to our time zone
that we are located. I personally prefer the extended evening light and
wake up much after sunrise. Here in the middle on North Carolina, on
Standard Time, it gets dark enough to turn the lights on at 4 PM, and
the sun wakes me at about 7AM right now. I am not a 'morning person'
and am retired so I don't have reason to get up early in the morning.
Those further West in the time zone will have other opinions. Those
further North have more twilight time than we do here, so 'it all depends'.
