No, I don't think that using target mode is either a good idea or an easier
idea.

Target mode from a Mac with OS 9.0 to a new Intel iMac with OS 10.4.10 could present read/write problems. For example, if you open the old Mac's drive
on the new Mac, you'll be introducing .ds_store files to old drive.

Don't mess with your hard drives if you don't need to.

If you're moving just a few files from old Mac to new Mac, I'd suggest that you just use Mac-to-Mac file sharing by Ethernet, or a USB memory stick, or
burn a CD on the old Mac containing the files you want.

Uh oh, back to the drawing board.

I'd love to be able to do it with file sharing. My wife and I are connected through a router, and we used to be able to file share when I had an OS machine, but we can't seem to do so since I got an OSX machine. I have a faint recollection that I called Apple and they told me that it wasn't possible. Does that sound right?

She has a lot of Word files to move, but I suppose we could easily break them into small chunks for transfer by memory stick or CD, but what about Claris Emailer. Do I have to move the entire CE folder (390 mb) or can I move just the Mail folder (100 mb) and address book for conversion into Mac Mail?
