And it did work when I plugged it into my OS X machine. I dragged a
few files into just to try it out and then thought I was going to
transfer them to my wife's machine to complete the experiment, but
her machine didn't seem to see it.
Two things:
1: First follow Karl's suggestion about installing the USB mass
storage drivers. If that doesn't solve it, 2: Plug it into the OS X
machine and then reformat it. It may have a funky format that OS 9
can't understand (for instance, OS 9 machines sometimes have problems
with U3 units, reformatting them will kill off the U3 junk and
sometimes get them to start working under OS 9).
