If the Beaglebone replaces the PC and the FPGA card, then it certainly
works out cheaper than a PC + Mesa Card or PC + Pico Card.

I would guess that you still need some form of breakout board for the
BeagleBone. The 5i25 is $80 and will wire directly to your existing
parallel breakout.

I guess it all depends on what you want to achieve from any proposed
upgrade/swap.
