Actually, he's got the PPMC, the analog servo board set. But, the problems are the same, it all is in the encoder handling.
With the Gecko drive, the encoders are powered off the Gecko, and there could be noise issues with trying to hook the index signal to the USC board. I suppose you could use an opto-isolator to send the index signal to the USC.
