In simple terms "if it is drinkable" then ATF is going to be involved. The common denaturants like methanol and iso-propanol are toxic. Can you imagine pyridine as a denaturant. Ugh! All of these things have exposure levels. There has not been any mention of flashpoints. Ethanol burns virtually without a visible flame much like hydrogen. Your first hint of a flash-off will be something else on fire. You could use E-85 but the other 15% is gasoline-like. At least that has enough aromatics to smoke when it burns. ;-) Unfortunately, there just isn't a free lunch.
