Thats the howto I used.
I installed from the livecd updated everything (just trying to get it 
all working)
removed, the emc package. (which took the drivers for all the other mesa 
stuff with it)
then just followed the install order for the other packages, everything 
worked well.
Its now up and running reading a set of linear scales.
The 2nd CPU basically sits at 0% use all the time but its doing all the 
heavy lifting ;->

Other than removing and re-installing the different versions of emc it 
shouldn't require any changes to your setup?
