Neither in this case. xpos-fb is only a signal name, you could call it
anything you like, the system pays no attention to the signal names
outside the HAL file, they are just labels so that you can refer to
the same signal in different parts of the file.

Which axis is the "extra" motor mapped to in the gantrykins HAL? (I
think that in this line "axis.3" really means "joint.3" but any axis
can be mapped to any stepgen.
