In fairness, and to uphold my geek cred, I'll have to admit that a 10uf
cap, a 25 ohm 200 watts resistor and 80 volts is a wee bit much. 80 volts,
maybe, but the cap needs to drop to maybe half a mic, which would raise the
discharge frequency far enough we'd deafen dogs & cats half a block away.
I'd say that it would still be hard on ears though. At 77, there is one
store here in town that still has an ultrasonic burglar alarm. They run at
44 kilohertz and flood the room with about 5 watts of power. I may be the
only person alive who has asked them to please turn it completely off
during the business day. My eardrums get a tight feeling and I get a
headache in just a couple of minutes in there.

But this current rig can bore a 1/4" hole thru the web of a $40 table saw
blade in about 3 minutes/hole once the tape ring dam was set & filled with
K1. Nice clean hole too. I was mounting it on my rotary table so I could
resharpen the saw blade. I guess it was one of those things I did just to
keep me out of the bars. ;-)
