It was a while ago that I upgraded things. So I can't say for sure what the
order of events were. But I was running 2.7pre on this machine as soon as it
came out and I know I did not update the firmwares right away, and ran for a
while just ignoring the notice to update them. I don't think during that time
I had the problem with the smart serial errors until after I updated the
firmwares, also about that same time I changed my config to run at a higher
rate, moving the hm2 read/rights and velocity loop for the servos to a floating
point base thread. I've been blaming the ss communication problems on the base
thread speed being borderline too fast. So for me the real question is what is
the source of the problem, is it that something in 2.7 is more sensitive to
errors than before, is something in the new firmware making it more sensitive,
something in 2.7 or the firmware causing more errors than before, or is it my
thread speed. I don't want to blame electronic interference becaus
e it worked before for years and none of that changed. But in a way that
probably is the real source, because it is when powering on the machine(F2)
after an e-stop when I most often see this error (about half the time). I'll
check into these parameters and see if I can tame it down to acceptable level.

You set it like any other HAL parameter. Details are there if you look
at man sserial

setp hm2_5i24.0.sserial.port-N.fault-inc 0

Will disable all smart-serial fault reporting.

Naturally you will have to use parameters that actually exist in your
configuration.

The values haven't changed, but something else has, I am not sure what.

If you can't fix it, you don't own it.
